Our Approach
Landholders
Projects begin with land, and we recognise that development can be a long, unfamiliar and consequential process for landholders and farming businesses. We work directly with landholders to understand existing land use, operational needs, commercial expectations and long-term objectives.
Our approach is based on clear communication, respect and practical alignment. We aim to create durable commercial relationships that support informed decision-making, recognise the landholder’s role in the wider community and deliver value over the life of a project.
Communities
Energy infrastructure is developed in real places, with existing land uses, cultural values and regional priorities. We engage with communities and Traditional Owners early to understand local issues, explain project drivers and identify opportunities to improve outcomes before major decisions are fixed.
Our approach is place-based and practical. We seek to develop projects that can earn confidence over time, respond to stakeholder expectations and contribute positively to the regions in which they are located.
Integrated Development
We develop projects with investment, financing and customer requirements in mind from the outset. Monadic projects are designed to be soundly structured, technically robust, risk-mitigated, credible to regulators and attractive to financiers, investors and customers.
Our integrated approach connects land, approvals, technical design, offtake, procurement, financing and equity partnerships into a coherent development proposition. This allows us to accelerate projects from early opportunity to investment and construction with discipline, credibility and a realistic pathway to delivery.
Our capability extends well beyond early-stage development. MONADIC brings commercial-mindedness into development from the outset, given our extensive experience in taking projects to Financial Close and into construction.

Adam Trethowan
MONADIC is led by Adam Trethowan, a renewable energy executive with over 17 years’ experience in the development and delivery of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects across Australia.
Adam has operated across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage origination through to financial close and execution, with experience spanning major developers and investors including ENGIE, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Origin Energy and Goldwind.
His work combines commercial structuring, project development, and investment creation, with a focus on progressing complex projects through critical stages and into execution.

We develop energy and energy-related projects needed for a changing electricity system, including wind, solar, battery storage, gas generation and energy-adjacent infrastructure such as electricity-intensive developments. Our focus is on projects that respond to regional resources, market needs, grid location, community sentiment, environmental values, technical constraints and long-term cost competitiveness.

We assess site suitability based on the technology, location and development context. Key considerations include renewable resource or fuel availability, proximity to transmission infrastructure, land use compatibility, sensitive uses, environmental values, planning pathways, access, terrain, geology, hydrology and construction requirements. A good site needs a credible pathway through development, investment, construction and operation.

Yes. As project developers, we work directly with landholders to understand existing land use, operational needs, commercial expectations and long-term objectives. We recognise that development is a multi-year process and aim to create clear, respectful and workable arrangements.
We are flexible in considering commercial structures that provide sufficient confidence for us to commit development capital and risk, while preserving appropriate flexibility for landholders. These may include agreements for lease, purchase arrangements, option structures and other negotiated approaches.

Early development takes a project from concept toward a form that can enter regulatory approvals. This involves understanding the land, resource, environmental values, community sensitivities, market need and regulatory requirements through targeted site studies and engagement.
We seek to understand stakeholder perspectives and share what we can, while recognising that many project details are shaped through this phase. This process usually takes one to two years and informs later investment in permitting, grid studies, major contracting, procurement, commercialisation and financing.

We engage consistently with communities and Traditional Owners throughout development, including targeted consultation with directly affected and local residents, community groups and other stakeholders. We use project websites, newsletters, key publications and events to share information and support ongoing dialogue.
Our approach draws on recognised engagement principles, including informing, consulting, involving and, where appropriate, enabling stakeholders as projects progress. We recognise that projects are developed on the lands of Traditional Owners, and cultural heritage management is a key part of our process, including archaeological studies and engagement with relevant Traditional Owner groups.

Yes. We work with debt and equity investors, financiers and infrastructure owners to shape projects and portfolios around clear investment requirements and risk appetites. Strong development depends on more than a good project concept; it requires disciplined risk allocation across technology, procurement, grid, offtake, financing and delivery.
Our focus is on creating investment opportunities that are commercially coherent, financeable and capable of balancing the needs of the parties required to take a project through to construction and operation.

Yes. Creating projects that serve the needs of wholesale electricity customers, retailers and investment-grade energy buyers is part of our core value proposition. We work collaboratively with potential offtakers to understand their market exposure, energy needs, risk appetite and commercial objectives.
